First you have to know what is a deodorant and what is an antiperspirant. They may look the same, appear on the same aisle and have similar names but they are quite different.

Deodorants smell nice and act as masking agents. So if you reek of sweat, this is what you should buy. However, if the sweat still remains it often overpowers the deodorant. On the other hand, an antiperspirant has no smell but generally decreases sweating. Antiperspirants tend to cost a little bit more money. Once you know the difference between a deodorant and an antiperspirant, the rest is easy.

For those of you who just want to smell nice, get a deodorant; but for those of you who want to stop sweating, get an antiperspirant.

The majority of antiperspirants on the market in US must have a label with the ingredients listed. This is mandated by the FDA. No such rules exist for deodorants.

So where does one buy decent anti-sweating products?

The best place is any pharmacy, Walmart or Amazon. Amazon has a better choice of deodorants and antiperspirants than most walk-in pharmacy stores. One can compare prices and even read reviews from other customers.

Probably the best antiperspirant is Drysol or the Arm and Hammer Essentials Antiperspirant.
